Coastal ART WALKS in Sussex
A 3 hour Art Walk experience led by artist Catherine Greenwood, including materials and art tutorial in a small group at outdoor locations in Sussex specially selected for their suitablity for sketching & visual intrest. The walks can be adapted to suit walkers or artists needs, as each location will have various stops along the route. Please discuss your needs with Catherine.
Location Meeting at South Hill Barn (free) carpark, where there is a Coffee barn @Brewserscoffeeco and a portaloo. The 20 minuite walk down th the beach is down a fairy steep rocky path with views of the iconic seven sisters cliffs the whole way.
The art walks include an art tutorial with a sketchbook and basic materials to experiment with on the day.
During the Art Walk you will be encouraged to engage more of your senses from simply observational art, listening to seashore sounds, feeling the rocks, drawing in the mud all of which aim to engage you in the landscape in a deeper way.
Catherine will also offer tuition in observed drawing and painting, tailor made to your requimnets and skill level. You are also welcome to bring your own at materilals and a light portable stool or chair or mat.
You will be given the details of the meeting point the day before via the Art Walk Whats' App chat. (Alternatively text or email if prefered.)
All locations inclde a meeting point with access to a public toilet and a carpark. The walks are mainly circular loops but if you wish to extend your walk further please let Catherine know; the main focus of the Art Walk is to take the opportunity to enjoy creating art togther and taking time to appreciate the natural environment.
We aim to go ahead embracing the weather! In exceptional circumstances, a sheltered location will be found to draw in.
All ages and abilities welcome including experienced artists, however, no experience is necessary, you will be led through exercises which aim to give you more confidence drawing in an landcsape setting.
Booking Policy & What to bring
- It is advisable to wear clothing and footwear suitable for all weathers, bringing a waterbottle and something to sit on.
- Please note that participating in this session is entirely at your own risk.
- Do allow plenty of time around this event, to travel to and from it. Afterwards you may wish to extend your day with a further walk or picnic.
- Appolgies : no children or pets.
- Details will be sent via email and text about the exact location the day before the event.
- No refund will be made in case of cancellation but an alternative date can be booked if notified one week before the event except in exceptional circumstances.
